Abstract

Objective: To analyze and compare the hematological profile of patients with positive and negative diagnoses for dengue.

Materials and methods: Sixty-six samples from patients with febrile syndrome were retrospectively analyzed, classified according to molecular detection of the dengue virus, recorded in SPSS software version 25, applying measures of central tendency.

Results: A mean of 37 years was found, the different viral variables of dengue were obtained, in terms of the hematological profile, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and neutropenia were found, showing a significance between patients with positive and negative tests. It was observed that the mean of positive patients was below the minimum limit of the normal range, in contrast to the group of negative patients.

Conclusions: The clinical importance of determining the hematological profile in patients with dengue should be considered, since diagnostic confirmation alone does not guide comprehensive patient management to establish an adequate prognosis. The analysis of hematological profiles is of vital importance for decisions in clinical practice, given that hemodynamic values are altered during infection.
