Editorial Statement

Mission

Published three times a year, Horizonte Sanitario is an open-access scientific journal of the Universidad Juarez Autonoma de Tabasco (UJAT), whose mission is to disseminate original, rigorous and socially relevant scientific knowledge in the fields of Public Health and Health Administration. The journal serves as a pluralistic and inclusive platform for researchers from Mexico, Latin America and around the world, guaranteeing double-blind peer review, no charges for the submission and publication of manuscripts, and unrestricted distribution under a Creative Commons licence (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), with a commitment to contributing to the strengthening of health systems and the advancement of scientific knowledge for the benefit of society.

 

Vision

To establish itself as the leading scientific journal in Public Health and Health Administration in the Ibero-American region, recognised for the excellence of its content, the rigour of its editorial process and its commitment to open science. Horizonte Sanitario aims to progressively expand its presence in high-impact international indexes and databases, strengthen its community of authors and reviewers on a global scale, and have a significant influence on health decision-making, the training of specialised human capital, and the design of evidence-based health policies.

 

Objectives

1.    To disseminate high-quality scientific research in Public Health, Health Administration and related fields, through a transparent, ethical editorial process based on double-blind peer review.

2.    To promote open access to scientific knowledge in health, ensuring that all published content is freely available to any reader, without financial or institutional barriers, in line with the principles of Open Science.

3.    To strengthen scientific output in health in Mexico and Latin America, offering a platform for international visibility for researchers in the region and helping to bridge gaps in the representation of Ibero-American health knowledge.

4.    To maintain and raise standards of editorial quality and indexing, through the ongoing updating of selection criteria, inclusion in new internationally prestigious databases, and adherence to good editorial practices in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

5.    To contribute to the training of health researchers by providing a rigorous publication platform that encourages the production of original knowledge among researchers, lecturers, postgraduate students and health sector professionals.

6.   To promote interdisciplinary and inter-institutional scientific dialogue, inviting the national and international academic community to collaborate as authors, reviewers and active readers in the collective development of health-related knowledge.
